• What is a doula?

    A doula, or birth attendant, is a non-medical professional trained to offer physical, emotional, informational and spiritual support to the pregnant woman and her partner and family, through pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.
    Doulas aim to empower clients to have positive birth experiences and provide support for early parenthood.
    Studies have shown that the presence of a doula during labour leads to reduced intervention and shorter labours.

    My aims as a doula are to work with you to:
    • expand and grow your trust in yourself, birthing your own intuition;
    • show you a potential 'map' of the birth terrain, so you can make informed choices about the path you would like to take;
    • hold space for you while you birth;
    • but most importantly, support you in the way you would like to be supported so you can approach your birth feeling physically, mentally and emotionally safe.

    By nurturing your intuition or self-trust, so that by the time you birth your baby you have a deep sense of self-trust, sets you up to flow naturally into a normal physiological birth, and through this transformation, or Rite of Passage, you become a confident and deeply intuitive mother.

  • What do you cover in Prenatal sessions?

    • looking at your own birth and rites of passage to re-examine your story;
    • looking at what's actually possible in birth rather than the general societal paradigm;
    • looking at reframing 'pain' and strategies and tools for working with pain in labour;
    • finding what it is that you need to clear and doing that!

    The tools we use for this will depend on the individual but can include compassionate conversations, relaxation and visualisations, storytelling and reflecting, practical sessions for active labour, fear clearing, drumming, art, outside connection with nature and reflective repatterning.
